Styliani Vakrou

Dr. Styliani Vakrou, MD, PhD, FESC, FHFA, is a cardiologist specialised in Inherited Cardiac Conditions, Heart Failure and Imaging. She completed her cardiology training in Athens and pursued a Post-CCT fellowship on Inherited Cardiac Conditions and Heart Failure at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals in London, where she was also trained in cardiac MRI. Currently she works at the 2nd Department of Cardiology, “Attikon” University Hospital, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with special interest in ICCs, cardiogenetics and genetic counselling.

Dr Vakrou is certified in CMR (EACVI Level II), transthoracic echocardiography (EACVI TTE) and advanced echocardiography. She earned her PhD from the Medical School of the University of Athens and has also completed a post-doctoral research fellowship on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA. She is member of the HFA General Committee “Heart Failure Matters” and the National Network of “Precision Medicine in Cardiology and the Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death in the Young.”
