John Boletis is a graduate of the School of Medicine of the University of Athens and completed postgraduate training in the United Kingdom at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, University of Sheffield. He served as Director of the Department of Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation at “Laiko” General Hospital and Scientific Head of the hospital’s Kidney Transplant Unit.
He has served as President of the Medical Society of Athens, the Hellenic Transplantation Society, and the Hellenic Society of Nephrology, as well as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Transplant Organization. He also served as a member of the Council of the European Society for Organ Transplantation. In 2023, he was President of the European Transplantation Congress held in Athens. In 2024, he received an honorary distinction from the European Renal Association. Since 2019, he has been President of the Onassis Hospital.
