Ilias Gartzonikas, MD, MSc, PhDc, was born in Ioannina and graduated from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina in 2017. He completed the postgraduate programme “Chronic Disease Management and Ageing” at the Hellenic Open University in 2021 and graduated with distinction.
Since 2021, he has been a PhD candidate at the Medical School of the University of Ioannina, with his doctoral research focusing on heart failure.
He is a physician at the Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases Clinic of the University Hospital of Ioannina, where he is involved in the clinical evaluation and follow-up of patients with inherited cardiovascular diseases and cardiomyopathies.
He participates in prospective clinical studies involving patients with heart failure, inherited cardiac disorders, with an emphasis on clinical evaluation, imaging techniques and genetic assessment.
His research interests include heart failure, inherited cardiovascular diseases, cardiomyopathies, cardiac amyloidosis, prevention of sudden cardiac death, and the application of technology and artificial intelligence in cardiology.
