Efstathios Pagourelias

Efstathios D. Pagourelias, MD, MSc, PhD, FESC, FEACVI, is a graduate of the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2002, with honors) and holds a postgraduate diploma in “Clinical Research Methodology” from the same Medical School (2007). In 2011, he was awarded a PhD from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with honors, defending his thesis on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and athlete’s heart. He has undergone three years of postgraduate training abroad [London UK (University College of London, Heart Hospital) and Leuven Belgium (Gasthuisberg University Hospital, KU Leuven, Medical Imaging Research Center and Advanced Heart Failure & Heart Transplantation Unit)] where he specialized in the latest cardiovascular imaging techniques as well as in the management of cardiomyopathies and inherited cardiovascular diseases. In 2015, after exams, he received his second postgraduate diploma “Advanced Medical Imaging” from the Medical School of KU Leuven, Belgium. Since 2017, he has been an Academic Fellow of the 3rd Cardiology Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at Hippokrateion General Hospital with clinical and academic activity in the field of cardiovascular imaging and cardiomyopathies. Since December 2024, he has been an Assistant Professor in Cardiology-Echocardiography at the same Department.
