Dr. Despoina Parcharidou, MD, PhD, is a Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in cardiomyopathies. She serves as a Consultant Cardiologist in the First Department of Cardiology at AHEPA University Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece, where she is one of the cardiologists leading the specialized Cardiomyopathy Clinic and contributes extensively to clinical care, research, and medical education.
A graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Medicine, Dr. Parcharidou earned her PhD with distinction and has received national and international training, including training in inherited cardiovascular diseases at University College London Heart Hospital. Her work focuses on inherited and acquired cardiomyopathies, cardiac amyloidosis, sudden cardiac death prevention, and the clinical application of genomic medicine.
Dr. Parcharidou has contributed to numerous scientific congresses as an invited speaker, moderator, and chair. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and contributed to national and international registries, conference abstracts, and collaborative research projects. Her academic activities include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, mentoring, and the training of cardiology residents. She currently serves as President of the Working Group on Cardiomyopathies, Basic Research and Inherited Cardiac Diseases of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology.
