MD, Paediatrician, Co-discoverer of Naxos Disease; President of the “Nikos Protonotarios” Association; Principal Investigator NAXCARE Registry
Dr. Antigoni Eleni (Adalena) Tsatsopoulou is a paediatrician based in Naxos and co-discoverer of Naxos disease, first described in 1986 together with her late husband, Nikos Protonotarios, MD. Her work contributed to establishing the genetic foundations of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy and the broader concept of desmosomal cardiomyopathies.
She is President of the Friends’ Association for the Care and Prevention of Rare Cardiovascular Diseases “Nikos Protonotarios” in Naxos. Dr. Tsatsopoulou is an active member of Greek and European scientific societies, reviewer for international peer-reviewed medical journals, and author or co-author of peer-reviewed publications and book chapters related to inherited cardiomyopathies and Naxos disease. She served as President-Elect of the Working Group on Cardiomyopathies and Basic Research of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology. She is also a pro bono Scientific Associate of the Greek National Network for Precision Medicine in Cardiology.
She currently coordinates NAXCARE, an International Clinical Outcome Registry for Naxos Disease and Related Cardiocutaneous Syndromes, conducted under the auspices of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology, supporting international research and clinical surveillance on these syndromes.
