Dr. Angelos Rigopoulos, MD, PhD, FESC is a consultant interventional cardiologist at Hygeia General Hospital, in Athens Greece. He received his MD and PhD titles at the University of Athens. He held the positions of cardiology trainee, clinical/research fellow and consultant at the 1st and 2nd Cardiology Department of the University of Athens; he has been also a consultant and Head of Catheterization Laboratory in large German hospitals (the renowned Centre for HOCM in Leopoldina Hospital in Schweinfurt, Germany and subsequently in Halle University Hospital in Germany). He served as Secretary (2014-2018) and Nucleus Member (2020-2024) of the Working Group for Myocardial and Pericardial Disease of the European Society of Cardiology and has been a member of the ESC Congress Programme Committee (2016-2018). He has participated in the task force of ESC Guidelines and serves as Associate Editor in journals with significant impact factor. His main clinical and scientific interests lie in the fields of interventional cardiology, cardiomyopathies, and structural heart disease.
