Cardiologist, Unit of Rare and Inherited CV disease, Onassis CSC/GR; Network of Precision Medicine for Genetic Cardiovascular Diseases and Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death in The Young
Dr. Stefania Sventzouri, MD, PhD, graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She completed her training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at university, tertiary, and military hospitals.
She obtained her PhD at the 3rd Department of Cardiology, under the supervision of Professor J. Nanas. Her doctoral thesis was experimental and was awarded the grade of “Excellent.” In parallel, she was actively involved in the diagnosis and long-term management of high-risk patients with heart failure, including transplant recipients.
She has served for four years as a Scientific Associate in Hypertension at the Hypertension Center of Excellence of “Evangelismos” General Hospital of Athens.
She further specialized in advanced cardiovascular imaging techniques, including Stress Echocardiography and Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), at the 1st University Department of Cardiology, “Hippokrateio” General Hospital of Athens.
She has extensive research experience, including participation in large multicenter clinical studies, authorship of scientific publications, and active participation in national and international conferences.
Since 2022, she has been a Clinical and Research Fellow at the Unit of Inherited and Rare Cardiovascular Diseases, Onassis Cardiac Surgery Centre. Her clinical work includes the longitudinal follow-up of patients with inherited cardiomyopathies and rare cardiovascular syndromes. She is also actively involved in clinical research, data collection, and participation in large-scale clinical studies.
She also participates in the Greek Νational Network of Precision Medicine for Genetic Cardiovascular Diseases and Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death in The Young.
