George Lazaros, MD, PhD, FESC, is a Consultant Cardiologist for 23 years and since 2006 at the First Cardiology Department, Hippocration General Hospital, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He oversees the echo-lab of his Department and runs the Outpatient Clinic for Pericardial and Myocardial Diseases. He has been participating as a clinician and researcher in the ‘Cardio genetics’ Center for Athletes and Hereditary Cardiovascular Diseases of his clinic. 

He authored 300 International publications included in PUBMED in high impact journals (h-index: 37) and >15 book chapters. Invited speaker/chairman in >500 international and national congresses. Approximately 320 abstracts presented in international congresses. Associate Editor of the Hellenic Journal of Cardiology. Reviewer in >100 international scientific journals in included in PUBMED. Author in the 2025 ESC Guidelines for the management of myocarditis and pericarditis and reviewer in 3 additional Guidelines (including Cardiomyopathies 2023). Secretary and ordinary nucleus member of the nucleus of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial diseases (until August 31, 2024) and past chairman of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology Working Group on Cardiomyopathies, Basic Research and Inherited Diseases.
