Thomas Gossios

Assistant Professor in Cardiology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece 

Thomas Gossios, born in Thessaloniki in 1980, graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Medicine in 2004. He completed his Cardiology specialization at Hippocration General Hospital and AHEPA University Hospital, receiving his specialist title in 2016. In the same year, he earned a PhD from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a thesis on myocardial fibrosis and arrhythmias in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

He subsequently specialised in heart muscle disease in the United Kingdom, working at Barts Heart Centre, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, and St Thomas’ Hospital. He additionally has an interest in cardiac imaging, holding ESC certifications in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, as well as cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.

He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and other academic institutions. His research includes more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and chapters in three cardiology textbooks. Since February 2025, he has served as Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the 1st AUTH Cardiology Department of AHEPA University Hospital, with a clinical and research focus on inherited and acquired cardiomyopathies, neuromuscular disorders and cardiac imaging.
